Most short lets in Green Point are flats, either in the Beach Road and Mouille Point blocks facing the Atlantic or in the older and newer stock between Main Road and the Common. Sea-facing units cost the most; a street or two inland is quieter and cheaper. The suburb suits a stay without a car, because the Urban Park, the promenade, the restaurants on Main Road and the V&A Waterfront are all walkable. Before booking, check for secure access and parking, backup power, and whether the building actually permits short lets, since several sectional-title schemes do not. Rooms facing the stadium are noisier on event days.
Living here
Safety and walking
Green Point is comfortable on foot by day. The Urban Park, the Mouille Point promenade and the Main Road shops are busy from early morning, and the walk to the V&A Waterfront takes about fifteen minutes. The picture changes late at night on the Somerset Road strip: after midnight take an Uber or Bolt rather than walking home, even a short distance, and avoid the quiet side streets running up towards Signal Hill. Theft from parked cars is the everyday problem, worst on the open bays along Beach Road overnight, so use a basement or rooftop bay and leave nothing visible. On stadium event days keep your phone and wallet in a front pocket around the exits and the Fan Walk.

MyCiTi buses run along Main Road and Beach Road and link Green Point with the V&A Waterfront, the city centre, Sea Point, Camps Bay and Hout Bay; you need a MyCiTi card to board. Uber and Bolt are plentiful and reach the city centre in about ten minutes outside peak. Almost everything within the suburb is walkable and flat, steepening only towards Signal Hill. Street parking is tight in the evenings and on event days, when road closures around Helen Suzman Boulevard and Granger Bay Boulevard also affect access. The airport is roughly 25 to 45 minutes by car depending on traffic.
Everyday life
Main Road carries the daily needs: supermarkets, pharmacies, banks, coffee shops and a long run of restaurants. Green Point Urban Park, the 12.5-hectare public park on the Common, is the local garden, with three ponds, the Biodiversity Garden and a free outdoor gym, and the Mouille Point promenade runs from there to the Green Point Lighthouse. DHL Stadium sits on the same Common and brings both events and match-day traffic. The nearest full hospital is the Christiaan Barnard Memorial on the Foreshore, a short drive away. Expect wind off the Atlantic and a busier suburb whenever there is something on at the stadium.
