Bantry Bay is almost entirely apartments, many of them sea-facing, in blocks stepped down the slope between Victoria Road and the rocks. It is the quietest base on this stretch of coast and the most sheltered from the south-easter, which is the main reason people choose it over Sea Point or Camps Bay. There is no commercial strip, so expect to walk or drive into Sea Point for shops and restaurants. Check for secure parking, lift access if you are high on the slope, and backup power. Prices sit above Sea Point and below Clifton, and sea-facing units carry a clear premium.

Safety and walking
Bantry Bay is a quiet residential slope with almost no through traffic, and it feels calm at most hours. Walking down to Sea Point along the promenade is pleasant and busy by day; coming back is a steep climb. After dark the streets above Victoria Road empty out, and there is no shopping strip or evening foot traffic to speak of, so take an Uber or Bolt rather than walking back from Sea Point late. The realistic risks are theft from parked cars on the roadside bays and ordinary tourist-area opportunism rather than anything violent. Getting around
This is the transport question worth asking before you book. MyCiTi routes along Victoria Road and Main Road connect Bantry Bay with Sea Point, the city centre and Camps Bay, but the service is thinner than in Sea Point and you need a MyCiTi card. Uber and Bolt are the practical option and reach the city centre in about fifteen minutes. Walking into Sea Point along the promenade takes ten to fifteen minutes and is flat; walking back up into Bantry Bay itself is steep enough that most people do not. Street parking is limited. The airport is roughly 30 to 50 minutes by car.
Everyday life
There are no shops, schools or clinics in Bantry Bay itself. Daily life happens in Sea Point, a few minutes away, which has the supermarkets, pharmacies, gyms and restaurants. The nearest swimming is the tidal pool and small beach at Saunders' Rocks on the Sea Point boundary, and the promenade is the local park. The suburb is sheltered from the wind that makes summer afternoons hard work elsewhere on the coast, and it is quiet at night. The trade-off is a real dependence on a car or a rideshare for anything beyond a walk along the sea.
