Safety and walking

The beachfront promenade, Big Bay and the Eden on the Bay area are busy and fine to walk through the day and into the evening, and the lit stretches stay reasonably populated. The real risk here is your car: theft out of parked vehicles at beach parking rose from 101 to 151 cases in April to June 2026, the twelfth highest count in the country, so leave nothing visible, not even a jacket. After dark, do not walk the beach itself or the quiet residential streets inland; take an e-hailing trip. Driving in or out, stay on the R27 or Marine Drive and ignore any GPS shortcut through Du Noon.
