Safety and walking

Parow is an ordinary working suburb rather than a visitor destination, and it splits in two for walking. The northern streets, Panorama, Plattekloof, De Tijger and Welgelegen, are quiet residential ground where daytime walking is unremarkable and most homes have alarms and armed response. Around the station and along the Voortrekker Road corridor the picture changes: heavy foot traffic, pickpocketing and phone snatching by day, and street crime plus occasional targeted shootings after dark. Walk that stretch in daylight only, keep your phone away, and drive or take an e-hailing trip at night. Car break-ins are common everywhere, so leave nothing on the seats.
