By day the village core is easy walking. Main Road, Cavendish Square and the restaurant strips are busy and well watched, and Arderne Gardens is pleasant in daylight. The care goes into parked cars rather than pedestrians: theft from vehicles is the most common crime here, so leave nothing visible and use an attended parkade. After dark stay on the lit, busy stretches around Cavendish and the restaurants, keep your phone out of your hand near the station and taxi rank where snatch theft concentrates, and take a ride app rather than walking the quiet side streets or the length of Main Road.
