Kippie Moeketsi
Alto saxophonist, born in 1925, who started on clarinet in a band called the Band in Blue and became the leading saxophone voice of the bebop generation. He called the Jazz Epistles the best band he ever played in. Wikipedia records the epithet South Africa's Charlie Parker without saying who coined it. He died in 1983.
