Safety and walking

The suburb is comfortable on foot by day, including the walk down to Kloof Street and up to the Lion's Head trailhead. Theft from parked cars is the crime residents meet most often, because many of the older houses and blocks have no off-street bay and cars stand out overnight on quiet streets, so leave nothing visible. Opportunistic street crime, mostly phone snatching, concentrates at the lower end near Kloof Street where there are people about late. After about ten in the evening, walk in company on the lower blocks and take Uber or Bolt for anything further. TBK Watch and City Bowl Armed Response cover the area.
