Camps Bay: Cape Town's Premier Beach Destination
Home to Blue Flag beaches, the dramatic Twelve Apostles mountain range, and Cape Town's most glamorous sunset strip. One of the city's safest suburbs with strong security infrastructure and a laid-back luxury vibe.
One of Cape Town's safest suburbs. Comparable to Clifton and Bantry Bay. Strong CID presence, 24/7 patrols, and major CCTV rollout underway.
Safety Overview
Camps Bay consistently ranks among Cape Town's safest suburbs. It's a premium residential area with low population density, high property values, and strong private security presence. The beach, promenade, and restaurant strip are relaxed and well-patrolled during the day.
Significantly safer than the CBD, Sea Point, or V&A Waterfront, Camps Bay is comparable to neighboring Clifton and Bantry Bay β the Atlantic Seaboard's most secure enclaves.
Safety Rating: 9/10 β Excellent
Camps Bay offers excellent safety by Cape Town standards. The CID launched in September 2024 with mandatory levies funding 24/7 patrols, and a R11.4m camera rollout is underway. Main risks are vehicle break-ins and opportunistic theft β standard urban precautions apply.

Security Infrastructure
The Camps Bay CID (launched September 2024) replaced the voluntary CBCSI with mandatory property levies. Phase 1 deployed 150 thermal and LPR cameras in April 2025, with AI monitoring and integration with the national vehicle database. Two dedicated Law Enforcement Officers operate 24/7 with powers to fine, search, and arrest.
