Event Snapshot

After a six-decade break, competitive hillclimb racing returns to the City Bowl. Over 140–150 carsβ€”from pre-war specials and ’60s legends to modern GT machines and single-seatersβ€”will sprint uphill in timed runs against the clock, in front of the city skyline and Table Mountain.

Philip Kgosana Drive (formerly De Waal Drive) is the scenic M3 skirting Devil’s Peakβ€”its curves and views are part of the folklore of Cape Town roads.

Good to know on the day - Cars launch frequentlyβ€”walk the fan zone between runs to catch different angles.
- Respect marshal instructions; stay behind barriers and in marked areas (standard motorsport safety).
- Ear protection recommended for kids and for V8/straight-pipe machinery.

Who’s Racing: names to watch

A taste of the provisional entry (subject to change) across the two days: Jan Lammers (NED) in a Jaguar TWR XJS; Franco Scribante (Chevron B19 on Saturday); Paige Lindenberg (Shelby Super Snake Mustang); plus a mix of Porsche, Ferrari, Audi RS, Toyota GR, BMW M and prototype machinery.

See the provisional competitor list on the official site for the latest updates.

Pro Tips (Pack smart)

  • Arrive early: Security + walking the village takes time. Target 45–60 min before your must-see session.
  • Sun & wind: Cape Town can do bothβ€”bring SPF, hat, sunglasses, light windbreaker.
  • Footwear: You’ll roam between vantage pointsβ€”comfortable shoes beat fashion.
  • Cashless ready: Food & drink vendors typically accept cards/mobile pay (queues move faster). Ticketing, pricing & hospitality are centralised via Webtickets.
  • Mobility & family: Grandstand offers reserved seating; GA is on mixed surfaces; ear defenders for kids.
  • Photography: Personal photos are fine, but commercial filming/broadcast rights sit with the organiserβ€”respect signage and marshals.
